3 Legged Stool with Curved Stretchers

Three leg stool with curved stretchers

These stools feature a unique and incredibly solid construction using bent laminated curved stretchers to join the three legs.  The legs are gently tapered and shaped using hand planes, leaving a subtly faceted surface that accentuates the linear grain of the legs.  Hand tools are also used to shape the edge of the seat creating a smooth and lightly textured surface.  The legs join the seat with wedged tenons.

A combination of hand tools and traditional mortise and tenon joinery results in a solid construction with details that can be felt by hand and eye.

The following blog post has lots more details showing the process of building the stools – Three Leg Stools with Curved Stretchers Build
