Inspiration – Toru Fukuda

This week I thought I’d mention an artist who I’ve been following for the past couple of years, and I’ve been consistently impressed and inspired by his work. Toru Fukuda carves incredibly detailed scenes, often featuring butterflies, completely out of wood. The level of realism in his work is mind boggling. Looking at his images online I’ve often wondered about his process. His work is so refined it’s hard to imagine exactly how he achieves the level of detail that he does. Well just the other day I discovered that he started a Youtube channel, and you can see one of his first videos below. I really hope he makes more, because it’s fascinating to watch his process.
